Buffaloes Lose to Chargers in Walk-Off
|
Starting pitcher Sibrand Smits gave the Detroit Chargers a rock-solid effort. The Leidschendam-Voorburg, The Netherlands native helped his team defeat the Winnipeg Buffaloes, 3-2, at Chargers Field. Devin O'Neill, now 2-0, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 1. Early on, the Chargers, at 9-3, have excelled.
The decisive blow was delivered by Alois Profanter in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 27-year old left-handed pitcher Dan Tremain to win the game for Detroit. The home crowd went nuts.
"Sibrand did what Sibrand does," said Detroit manager Carlos Ventura.
