The Houston Mavericks earned a win at Shamrock Grounds, knocking off the Boston Shamrocks, 6-3. On the bump for Houston was right-hander Luke Whalen. He had a starring role in the triumph. The winner was Whalen. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Tony Estrada. Houston has won 6 straight games.
Nate Ramos, who is tied for 8th in the PBC in bases on balls with 27, helped out the Houston cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the shortstop went 1-4.
"Luke knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said Houston manager Kevin Read.
