Mavericks Come Back Late to Top Blackhawks, 7-5
The Houston Mavericks defeated the Chicago Blackhawks, 7-5, at Mavericks Ballpark. Chris Oldfield produced 1 single and 1 double, while scoring 1 run and driving in 2. Ricardo Santana, who finished 2nd in the PBC in strikeouts with 169 in 2007, picked up the win in relief. Isaiah Hoffman took the loss for Chicago. With the win, Houston raised its record to 25-7.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Jorge Nunez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Chicago pitcher Ethan McKeehan, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Houston on top, 6-5.

"I'm proud to wear a Houston jersey," Nunez told the Houston Chronicle. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
