Fans watched the Chicago Blackhawks and the New York City Blues fight to the finish.

The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the New York City Blues, 6-5. Right Fielder Dave Kershner deserved a large share of the credit. Kershner was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Blackhawks. Adam Muhammad got the win, improving to 3-1. He pitched 8.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Sean Keating collected save number 3.

Kent Beaton drove in one run for Chicago. The 29-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Kevin Phillips. It was his 13th RBI of the season.

"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Kershner.
