3-HR Binge for Swepston Against Tampa Bay (R) Tuesday, August 12th , 2008 It was a good day for the San Francisco (R) Peanuts and an exceptional one for Jerry Swepston. The 19-year-old center fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the Peanuts beat the Tampa Bay (R) Thunder, 26-6, at PBC Rookie Development Complex. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Swepston said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 5 times, drove in 8 runs and smacked 4 hits in 6 at-bats. Jerry Swepston flied out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Nate Bradley in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Gui-fei You in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off David Campos in the 8th. So far this season, Swepston has hit .278 with 17 home runs, 40 RBIs and scored 39 times. |
