Yuma's Memmel Injured, Out of Lineup Wednesday, September 17th , 2008 The Yuma Gnomes will have to make do without Aaron Memmel for 14 months. He suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow while throwing a pitch in the game today against the El Paso Mavericks. His teammates, understandably, were upset about losing the starting pitcher. "That's a tough break for him," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We will just fill in until he gets back." Memmel has gone 7-4 this season with an ERA of 3.68 and 113 strikeouts in 78.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .264 against him. |
