Buccaneers Adkins Booms 3 HRs Saturday, August 9th , 2008 Fans seated in the bleacher section at Bucco Ballpark were taking cover all day long as Elliott Adkins zeroed in on them, rattling three long blasts off the seats in a display of Herculean power. The big game from the New Orleans left fielder helped the Buccaneers take the victory, 10-2, over the Yuma Gnomes. "I told myself not to press on the last one," he told reporters in the postgame press conference. "I knew I couldn't force it -- it has to be a nice easy swing." For the game, he collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 7 and scored 3 runs. Elliott Adkins hit a solo-shot off Jon Romano in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jon Romano in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Ricky Leyva in the 7th and walked in the 8th. |
