Tampa Bay Starting Pitcher Wins PBC Rookie of the Year Wednesday, November 5th , 2008 It was a good debut season for Kevin Schuerger as he dumbfounded Professional Baseball Circuit batters to capture the Rookie of the Year Award for 2008. He racked up a 17-4 record to rank as the league's standout rookie. The Tampa Bay hurler tossed 172 innings this season with 202 strikeouts and 63 walks as he compiled a 2.72 ERA. Teams got to him for 150 base hits as he held them to a .235 batting average. He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 16. Bas Rutten of the Boston Shamrocks finished second in voting, while Kyle Prater of the Denver Cutthroats finished third.
