Lions Win at Home, 8-5

The St. Louis Lions powered past the Houston Mavericks, 8-5, at The Lions Hearth. John King provided some of the pop. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Paul Easterling. His record now stands at 2-1. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Lions. Picking up the save was Brent Farwell, his 2nd.
Will Bruhn was 1-3 with a triple and a walk. He scored 2 times for St. Louis. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Alexis Alvarez. It was his 10th RBI of the season.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," King told the St. Louis Herald. "Whatever it takes."
St. Louis, now 9-3, has gotten their season off to a good start.
