Game 5 was big. So was Ben Barger.

The Denver starter rose to the occasion at Garibaldi's Grounds, leading the Cutthroats to a crucial 4-2 victory over the San Francisco Peanuts. Barger threw 7.1 innings allowing 2 runs as the Cutthroats won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Cup Qualifier.

Dewey Duggan, who finished 2nd in the WC in home runs with 22 in 2008, had a direct impact on the outcome. Duggan contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Denver up, 3-2.

"We're happy," Barger told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."

The next game is set to be played for Monday, October 13th , 2008 at Cutter's Cove in Denver.
