Blues Best Coyotes in Pitching Duel
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the New York City Blues and Salt Lake City Coyotes.
The New York City Blues picked up a win at Blues Field, courtesy of Nate Kelley. The right-hander helped his team stop the Salt Lake City Coyotes, 2-0. Phil Knobbe wrapped it up, recording his 10th save.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when designated hitter Malachi Thompson, who is tied for 4th in the EC with a .965 OPS, hit a single. The Blues went on to win.
In comments to the New York City Chronicle, Thompson admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
The 6th-place Blues improved to 24-34.
