Starting pitcher John Hunter fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Washington Warriors stymie the New York City Blues, 4-2. Gennaro Velo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 13 save opportunities. The win gives Washington a season record of 45-29.

Washington used the timely hitting of Jason Clements to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Warriors on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Clements, "and then get after it again."
