6-1 Triumph Takes St. Louis to 26-14
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the St. Louis Lions and Washington Warriors came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
St. Louis pitcher Paul Easterling did his part in helping his team beat the Washington Warriors, 6-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Easterling yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 10. His record improves to 6-3.
Arlen Prest, who is tied for 10th in the WC in hits with 43, chipped in a 2-run home run for St. Louis in the bottom of the second. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
"We scored more than enough runs this time," said St. Louis manager Leo Cruz. "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
St. Louis sits in first place in the Western Circuit at 26-14.
