Denmark Powers Shamrocks to 9-8 Win
|
Trident Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Boston Shamrocks and Chicago Blackhawks.
Dustin Denmark added some punch to the Boston offense, helping them outmuscle the Chicago Blackhawks, 9-8. In the game, Denmark, who led the EC in batting average with .367 in 2005, went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Harry Parker picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. John Maguire suffered the loss. Luke Dickerson earned save number 3 this season.
Boston needed the clutch hitting of Bas Rutten to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Shamrocks on top, 9-8. For the game, Rutten had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Rutten.
With their winning streak at 4, the Shamrocks have raced to a strong start this season.
