The Houston Mavericks powered past the Philadelphia Keystones, 8-2, at Mavericks Ballpark. Jonathan Thornton provided some of the pop. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The win puts Houston at 18-11 this season.

Abel Zimmer had a big run-scoring triple for the Mavericks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Houston leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Matthew Steele, who leads the EC in wins with 7, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mavericks ahead, 3-1.

"They took it to us," said Philadelphia manager Corey Anderson.
