Shamrocks Absorb 5-2 Loss at Warriors Park
Washington pitcher Jon Lund had a large part in his team subduing the Boston Shamrocks, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. In 7 innings, Lund surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 2 runs. Gennaro Velo got credit for the save for Washington. It was his 2nd of the year.

The Warriors got a big at-bat from shortstop Matt Tomasso. For the game, Tomasso went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Washington a 5-2 lead.

Said losing manager Lex Clark: "Give the Warriors credit. They played a better game than we did."
