The Boston Shamrocks got a superb performance from pitcher Chris Phillips, but the New York City Blues still won the game, 4-2. Phillips threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Bubba Ostendorf snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 1-2 on the season. The win has New York City at 8-13.
New York City used a timely hit from Gregg Givens to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blues ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Givens.
