Fine Effort by Duggan Not Enough in 9-7 Cutthroats Loss
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Houston Mavericks and Denver Cutthroats.
Denver shortstop Dewey Duggan had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-7, to Houston at Cutter's Cove. Duggan went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Kevin Phillips got the save, the 4th for him this season.
Nate Ramos, who finished 5th in the WC in doubles with 22 last year, helped out the Houston cause in the top of the first inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the shortstop drew 2 walks.
"We've got a great group of guys," Ramos said, "and we're having fun right now."
Houston raised its record to 12-7 with the win.
