Cutthroats Lose, 5-2, at Garibaldi's Grounds

The 2008 season is off to a good start for the San Francisco Peanuts. The hometown Peanuts knocked off the Denver Cutthroats, 5-2, at Garibaldi's Grounds. San Francisco pitcher Ron Clous paced his team to the win. Clous, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 11, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Matt McFadyen closed it out for his 1st save.
Ben White dealt the Cutthroats a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and San Francisco leading 1-0, White, who finished 5th in the WC in hits with 96 last year, hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Peanuts manager Larry Link. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
