Bassett Parks 3 HR in the Seats Friday, October 5th , 2007 Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Bryan Bassett can celebrate. The Vacaville Steelheads left fielder powered three into the stands at Moose Grounds against the Saskatoon Moose. "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Bassett told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one." In all, he was 3-for-4 as the Steelheads toppled Saskatoon by a score of 9-6, knocking in 6 runs and scoring 3 times. "He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Vacaville manager John Mills said. "He gets the ball up in the air." Bryan Bassett hit a solo-shot off Mike Haines in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Mike Haines in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Kevin Crawford in the 9th. So far this year, Bassett has 18 home runs and a .252 batting average. |
