Empires End Earp Streak Tuesday, September 11th , 2007 The Calgary Caracals lost to the Southern California Empires by the score of 5-2 at Empires Stadium, but the bigger story was the end of a hit streak. Calgary right fielder Rick Earp had been working on a 21-game hitting streak, but went 0-for-3 against the Empires to bring the hot stretch to an end. "I couldn't do my job and we lost the game," he said in postgame remarks. "It just goes to show how important I am to this team, and how critical it is that I play to the best of my abilities." So far this season, Earp is hitting .320 with 9 home runs. |
