Hamilton Shuts Out Calgary, 1-0 Saturday, August 18th , 2007 The Hamilton Tigers did little to support starter Howard Berard against the Calgary Caracals, but it turned out he didn't need the help. The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Caracals, striking out 2 and surrendering 6 hits. The performance from Berard allowed Hamilton to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense. "Nobody came to me and said, 'Howard, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Berard told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it." To date this season, Berard sports a 4-7 mark with a 4.30 ERA in 14 starting assignments.
