Tampa Bay Wins Cup Qualifier Sunday, October 14th , 2007 The Tampa Bay Thunder took time to celebrate with the Tampa Bay fans who stuck around after the game, following the team's Cup Qualifier triumph over the New York City Blues. Members of the Thunder hung around chatting, high-fiving and taking pictures with the Tampa Bay fans in attendance at The Thunder Bowl, long after the last pitch had been thrown in their 6-4 win to seal the series 4-2. "We've got great fan support," said shortstop Dan Weiss. "Whether we're at home or on the road, the fans support us. So we wanted to show them how important that is to us. Some New York City fans that were there even congratulated us on the win." For the series, Weiss hit .348 with a .423 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, 7 RBI and scored 5 runs. Things weren't so cordial on the Blues side of things. Their clubhouse was closed to media after the game and all players and coaches quickly dressed and left the stadium after the end to their season. The Tampa Bay Thunder will play against the San Francisco Peanuts in the next round. San Francisco won their series against the Denver Cutthroats 4 games to 2.
