Blues Heading to Cup Qualifier Thursday, October 4th , 2007 The Play-in Series may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The New York City Blues, however, are not complaining. The Blues were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the Washington Warriors to advance to the Cup Qualifier. New York City won the final game by a 5-3 count at Warriors Park and the series 3-1. Blues third baseman Willie Zamora was named series MVP, as he hit .471 with a .500 on-base percentage. He added 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs. "It's not going to be the last time Washington makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Zamora said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day." The New York City Blues will play against the Tampa Bay Thunder in the next round. Tampa Bay had a bye in the Play-in Series.
