EC Best Newcomer Trophy Awarded Monday, October 1st , 2007 Jim Wermter is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Eastern Circuit Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In September the Atlanta hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .338 average with 26 hits, 3 home runs and 14 RBIs. This year, Wermter has collected a .295 batting average to date with 90 hits in 305 at-bats, 51 RBIs, 15 home runs and scored 63 times. He has played in 88 games. |
