Los Angeles's Velez Sidelined for Season Wednesday, September 26th , 2007 Frank Velez of the Knights just might have to call it quits for the season. The 28-year-old Los Angeles reliever received a possible season-ending injury against the Salt Lake City Coyotes recently at Alpines Park. Velez suffered a torn rotator cuff while throwing a pitch. The Knights medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 5 months. Velez has compiled an ERA of 4.60 so far this season, winning 1 games with 4 losses and 3 saves. In 37 relief appearances he has hurled 47 innings, yielded 39 hits and struck out 54. Opposing hitters have batted .232 against Velez. |
