Reliever of the Year Award Goes to Meloche Monday, October 22nd , 2007 Mike Meloche said his performance in 2007 was a "statement" to the entire league. "As an impending free agent you feel like you've got something to prove, something to work for to ensure that next contract," said the Tampa Bay Thunder pitcher, who is seemingly heading for free agency. The bullpen ace certainly proved himself this year, and he has won the Eastern Circuit Reliever of the Year Award. The North Vancouver, Canada native had a 2.49 ERA this season over 86.2 innings of work. He made 49 relief appearances and had 26 saves, 79 strikeouts, 33 walks and a record of 6-6. Opponent batters hit only .242 against him. Luke Dickerson of the Boston Shamrocks finished second in voting, while Diego Rodriquez of the New York City Blues finished third. |
