The Southern California Empires started the Division Championship Series in style, winning on the road against the Vacaville Steelheads at Ballpark of Vacaville by a score of 8-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Empires right-hander Jason Davis threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball.

Ricky Bernal helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Empires.

"We did a lot of things right," said Davis.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Vacaville in Vacaville.
