Division Series Game 1 Victory for Sunderman and Newark
The Newark Eagles started the Division Series in style, downing the visiting Ottawa Capitals at Eagles Park by a score of 6-4 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Eagles right-hander Tony Sunderman threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball.

Nate Spalding, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2005, chipped in a 2-run home run for Newark in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Sunderman said.
