Behind the big bat of designated hitter Steve Aubin, the Tampa Bay Thunder have opened up a healthy early lead in the Cup Qualifier. The Thunder topped the New York City Blues, 10-0, at The Thunder Bowl in Game 2, and now hold a 2-0 edge in the best-of-7 series. Aubin threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball to power Tampa Bay to victory.

Kengo Miyake hit a 2-run home run off Keith Higdon in the bottom of the first, which put the Thunder ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Miyake had 1 double, while going 2 for 5.

New York City manager Cole Hobson said his team was "out of sync."

The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, October 10th , 2007 at Blues Field in New York.
