Warriors Win at Chicago, 9-2
|
The Chicago Blackhawks went down to defeat to Willie Cantu and his Washington teammates. The final score was 9-2, in favor of the Warriors. The third-place Warriors are now 52-36, the Blackhawks 46-42.
Washington used a well-timed hit by Jon Schmitt to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Warriors ahead, 5-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Washington skipper Barry Lolicht.
