The Tampa Bay Thunder defeated the Boston Shamrocks, 3-1. First Baseman Steve Aubin deserved a large share of the credit. Aubin threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 run for the Thunder. Tampa Bay is now 53-29, 3 games up in the Eastern Circuit.
The Thunder got a big at-bat from center fielder George Pickens. For the game, Pickens went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Boston skipper Art Matlock, "and it cost us."
