Pilots Suffer 7-3 Road Loss
|
Thanks in large part to third baseman Willie Zamora, the New York City Blues beat the Atlanta Pilots, 7-3. Zamora was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Diego Rodriquez was credited with the save, his 6th in 8 tries. The win elevated the Blues to 44-31.
The Blues got a big at-bat from designated hitter Malachi Thompson. For the game, Thompson was 1 for 2 with a double and 3 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave New York City a 2-0 lead.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Zamora. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
