Blues Come Up Short at Washington, 4-3
|
The Washington Warriors picked up a win at Warriors Park, knocking off the New York City Blues, 4-3. Starting pitcher Jose Ortiz was a big reason why. Picking up the save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Gennaro Velo. At 41-30, the Warriors find themselves in 4th place in the Eastern Circuit.
The Warriors got a big at-bat from left fielder Chris Ring. For the game, Ring was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Washington a 4-2 lead.
"Jose's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Washington manager Barry Lolicht.
