Denver Decked by Thompson, Blues
|
The New York City Blues downed the Denver Cutthroats, 10-3, at Cutter's Cove. Malachi Thompson led the way, going 2-for-4 for New York City. Jim Johnson, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 6-5. The New York City win streak is now 6 games.
The Cutthroats had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Blues going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman James Norwood came to the plate. Norwood hit a 2-run triple on a 0-2 cutter from Denver hurler Mike Miller. It was Norwood's 4th triple of the year.
"I like the roll we're on," said New York City manager Cole Hobson.
