Senators Tag Tigers with 4-1 Loss
|
Albany and Hamilton duked it out and the Senators came out victorious.
Albany pitcher Alan Staubitz had a large part in his team subduing the Hamilton Tigers, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Staubitz, now 7-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Ian Estes picked up the save for Albany, his 4th of the year.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for John Wayne? The Albany second baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Senators on top, 2-0. For the game, Wayne had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Wayne told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
Albany is now 37-47, Hamilton 39-45.
