Fleetwings Use Late Score to Top Eagles, 3-2
|
The Allentown Fleetwings faced a tough opponent in Newark pitcher Jason Schiavo, but found a way to pull out the victory at Eagles Park by a final score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Schiavo went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Allentown reliever Chris Coleman picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Cody Reilly was tagged with the loss. Alfredo Martinez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
Willie Aranda came through with a big-time hit for Allentown. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Aranda told a Allentown Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
Allentown, at 33-41, occupies 5th place in the East Division.
