The Newark Eagles overcame a pretty good performance by Detroit left fielder Dorek Bolesta, beating the Chargers, 7-6, at Chargers Field. Bolesta went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Sid Brumbley earned the win for Newark. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 9. With the win, he raised his record to 12-5. Oscar Loza earned the save for Newark, his 6th.
Juan Moctezuma came through with a big-time hit for Newark. The first baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 7-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Moctezuma.
The victory gives Newark a record of 39-33.
