Chargers Score Late to Nip Eagles, 4-3
|
The Detroit Chargers took Newark pitcher Antonio Maytorena's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Chargers Field. The final score had Detroit getting past the Eagles, 4-3. Maytorena went 8 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 11. With the win, Detroit has a record of 30-39. Newark falls to 38-31.
Ye-qing Yang was the walk-off hero for Detroit. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Chargers third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Yang.
