Brancati Hits 2 home runs in Aztecas Win
|
The Mexico City Aztecas stymied the Quebec City Admirals, 5-2, at Quebec City Grounds. Vitaliano Brancati had a good day at the plate. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for Mexico City. Al Novack, the winning pitcher, is now 4-3. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 8. Oliver McPeak finished to wrap up his 1st save.
With Mexico City trailing 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Brancati hit a fastball from John Frost for a 2-run home run. It was his 19th home run of the season and put the Aztecas ahead, 3-2.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Brancati told the Mexico City Chronicle. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
The Aztecas are now 29-30.
