Tight Tilt Goes to Empires, 2-1
|
Mobumasu Tsuji brought his A-game to help Southern California defeat the Newark Eagles, 2-1. The winner was Tsuji. He threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was David Waggoner. The win for the Empires raised their record to 33-22.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Empires had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when designated hitter Chad Fergerson hit a run-scoring single. The single came off David Waggoner and made the score 1-0, Empires. Fergerson was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"We did just enough to win," Tsuji said.
