Buffaloes Upend Capitals, 6-5
|
The Winnipeg Buffaloes reigned over the Ottawa Capitals in damp conditions.
The Winnipeg Buffaloes picked up a win at Capitals Stadium, downing the Ottawa Capitals, 6-5. On the mound for Winnipeg was right-hander Mike Brown, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Brown. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Jamie Stewart. Mario Estrada earned save number 2 this season.
Winnipeg used a clutch at-bat from Dave Sewall to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Buffaloes ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Ottawa manager Mike House. "The effort was great."
The win for the Buffaloes lifted their record to 26-17.
