|
St. Louis got a big-time effort from pitcher Kevin Williams, but it wasn't enough to keep the New York City Blues from winning the game, 4-3. Williams threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Luis Perez, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. The Lions, at 29-17, have lost 5 in a row.
Had Willie Zamora not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Zamora hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Blues.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said New York City manager Cole Hobson.
