Earp Delivers Walk-Off Win for Caracals
|
The Calgary Caracals did just enough to secure a victory over the Detroit Chargers, 4-3, in 14 innings at Caracals Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Sean Lee. Tyler Iavarone, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Detroit has now lost 4 in a row.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 14th for Calgary. That's when Rick Earp, who finished 5th in the SPBC in wins above replacement with 3.2 last year, hit a solo home run off Justin Martin to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"Our team found a way to get it done," said Earp.
