Drillers Stay Hot, Beat Fleetwings, 4-2

Edmonton Drillers starter John Higgins turned in an exceptional performance against the Allentown Fleetwings at Drillers Field, resulting in a Edmonton win, 4-2. Higgins yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 3-3. Earning his 1st save of the year was Roberto Morales.
Jared Herrick had a big 2-run home run for the Drillers in the bottom of the first inning. With Edmonton leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Post and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Drillers on top, 3-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Edmonton manager George Muller. "It's usually not just one thing."
The last-place Drillers have won 5 consecutive games.
