O'Connor Hits 2 home runs in Buffaloes Win
|
With Jimmy O'Connor leading the charge, the Winnipeg Buffaloes defeated the Vacaville Steelheads, 6-4. O'Connor belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Buffaloes. Emmanuel Rucker got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 9 and walking 6. The save went to Rhys Fox, his 3rd this season.
Chris Mandernach drove in one run for Winnipeg. The 27-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Tim Wharton. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"This team is on a mission," said O'Connor, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
The first-place Buffaloes have won 6 in a row.
