Fleetwings Prevail, 4-2, Over Newark
|
Antonio Maytorena pitched well, but his team, the Newark Eagles, still dropped a 4-2 decision to the Allentown Fleetwings at Fleetwings Ballpark. Bill Ross went 5 innings for Allentown to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs. He scattered 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record improves to 3-1. Newark, with the loss, is still a stout 12-2.
The Fleetwings got a big at-bat from designated hitter Willie Aranda. For the game, Aranda went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Allentown a 4-1 lead.
"It was a good effort all around," said Aranda.
