Senators Claim 5-1 Triumph
|
Albany used a superb performance from starting pitcher Ian Estes to down the Allentown Fleetwings, 5-1. Estes, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Alan Staubitz got credit for the save for Albany. It was his 1st of the year.
Jonathan Nieto dealt the Fleetwings a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Albany leading 2-0, Nieto hit a 0-2 sinker for a 2-run single.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Senators manager Luke Garwood. "This one was nice to get."
The win brings the Senators to 3-8, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
