Maytorena, Eagles Get 1-0 Win
|
Antonio Maytorena nearly tossed a no-hitter for Newark in a 1-0 Eagles triumph over the Detroit Chargers. Oscar Loza earned the save for Newark, his 3rd of the year. The Eagles, now 9-1, have hit the ground running this season.
Maytorena, who dominated for Newark, earned the victory to move to 2-0. He was in control the whole game, scattering 1 hit over 8 innings, while striking out 6. Detroit batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Newark manager Elijah Jackson.
