Right-hander Chris Ness mesmerized the Southern California Empires while leading the Saskatoon Moose to a 5-0 victory. Ness picked up the win for Saskatoon, going 8 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The loss has the Empires at 1-1.

Bob Fernandez had a big 2-run home run for the Moose in the top of the fourth inning. With Saskatoon leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Jason Davis and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Moose on top, 3-0.

"Chris kept his poise and got the job done," said Saskatoon manager Rick Schaunaman. "He was outstanding."
